Wiz Khalifa’s “Blacc Hollywood”

In 2011, Wiz Khalifa was all about Black and Yellow but on August 19, he’s taking us to Blacc Hollywood! Wiz has finally announced the release date for his third studio album!

While talking to Rap-Up.com back in November, Wiz opened up about his upcoming album. Although the name seems rather odd, Khalifa has a very good explanation. The Taylor Gang leader said, “The Hollywood party is like the success, the glitz, the glamour, the fun stuff. The Blacc is where we come from—not Pittsburgh the ‘hood, but Pittsburgh party, drinking at a very young age, tearing stuff up, staying up too late.” Summing up the anticipated album in a simple sentence, the Atlantic Records artist told Rap-Up, “It’s a lot of fun and a lot of attitude.”

The album cover features a tattooed, shirtless Wiz Khalifa, letting out a puff of smoke. Based on Khalifa’s history and Khalifa Kush (his very own line of marijuana) I’m going to take an educated guess and assume the puff of smoke wasn’t added on Photoshop after the album-shoot. When the name Wiz Khalifa is mentioned, tattoos and smoke are the first thing to come to mind, making this album cover choice completely appropriate.

A majority of the album’s information has yet to be released but we do know the album will feature Khalifa’s February 2014 hit, “We Dem Boyz.” The project is also expected to feature a Miley Cyrus collaboration. “Blacc Hollywood” comes as a follow-up to Wiz’s sophomore album, O.N.I.F.C. The 2012 album debuted at number two on the Billboard 200, making everyone curious as to how “Blacc Hollywood” will compare. Khalifa feels good about this one, saying, “I’m most confident in this one, more than I’ve ever been in any of my albums.”

Three and a half weeks before the album’s release, Wiz Khalif headlines the “Under the Influence of Music” tour. The third annual “Under the Influence of Music” tour begins on July 24 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Depending on the date, Jeezy, Ty Dolla $ign, Tyga, Rich Homie Quan, Iamsu!, Mack Wilds, Sage the Gemini and DJ Drama will join Khalifa on the road. The tour runs from July 24 through August 24, hitting 22 cities throughout the United States. If you’re interested in checking out this guaranteed turn-up tour, tickets are available at wizkhalifa.com/tour.

In an interview with Rap-UP TV, Khalifa tried to explain the album’s direction saying, “Blacc Hollywood in general is going be sonically something that people kinda expect, but it’s like they want it, so it’s gonna be a good thing for me to deliver.” Khalifa realizes sometimes you need to give the fans exactly what they want.
