iTunes Festival 2014

For the past decade, Apple has been providing us with the latest and greatest, whether it is in computers, phones or music. The first batch of headline acts for the 8th annual iTunes Festival is no exception. The lineup for the 30-day festival at Camden’s Roundhouse in London definitely doesn’t disappoint! More than 60 artists are scheduled to take the stage in September. More performers will be announced at a later date but for now, check out the already-announced lineup below!

September 2: Beck—After Morning Phase was named on NPR Music’s “Top 25 Albums of 2014” earlier this month, it’s not shocking that Beck was one of the first performers announced. At 44 years old, the singer-songwriter/producer is looking to start things off strong at the iTunes Festival. Currently on the first North American segment of his Morning Phase tour, Beck has worked around a few dates in order to make an appearance at the Roundhouse.

September 3: David Guetta—Notorious for releasing incredible remixes, David Guetta is arguably one of the industry’s hottest DJs—with the exception of bossman DJ Tay James! The French house DJ/producer will be close to home as he steps on stage at the Roundhouse on the 3rd of September. We’ve partied to his tracks numerous times in the club but as a team, we’re excited to hear what he’s planning for his iTunes Festival performance.

September 4: 5 Seconds of Summer—Things are getting hotter every day for Australian punk-rock band 5 Seconds of Summer. Look out for a WeKnowTheDJ article over the next few days about the boys’ crazy week! As one of the world’s most popular new acts, we’ve had 5SOS’ songs constantly stuck in our head over the past few weeks. They Aussies are opening for One Direction but I have faith in them to bring their own unique set to the Camden during the first week of September. When asked about their set, they joked around saying, “Even though we’re from Australia, we’re well aware what an iconic venue the Roundhouse is… And we’ve played enough square ones!”

September 5: Kasabian—Recently headlining Glastonbury, Kasbian will bring their No. 1 album 48:13 with them as they take the stage at the Roundhouse. Fresh off a hometown show in Leicester, their iTunes Festival performance is expected to be THE show of 2014! When asked about their appearance, Kasabian said, “We’re very proud to be in this year’s iTunes Festival line-up and we are excited to be playing alongside so many great artists. We have had a huge year so fair. Expect some surprises!”

September 7: Calvin Harris and Kiesza—Scottish DJ, singer-songwriter and producer Calvin Harris is headed to the Roundhouse on September with Canadian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and dancer Kiesza. Harris has released “Summer” and “C.U.B.A.” and has announced, “Blame.” Working on his fourth studio album, I speak for music lovers everywhere when I say I’m looking forward to whatever Harris is planning on releasing. In February, Kiesza released the video for “Hideaway,” which debuted at No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart on April 26. She premiered her second single “Giant in My Heart” on BBC Radio 1’s show on June 13.

September 8: Robert Plant—Former Led Zeppelin frontman is bringing his bewitching solo album, lullaby and The Ceaseless Roar to the Camden stage. When mentioning the festival, Plant says he’s excited for the September 8th show, saying, “We’ve been roaring around the world this summer from Morocco to the Artic Circle. The band is on fire.”

September 9: Sam Smith—Sam Smith has had one hell of year so calling him the breakout star of the yar is an understatement. Within the past few years, he’s skyrocketed to major stardom, making his journey even more impressive. When asked about his upcoming performance, he said, “Last year I was in the audience for Jake Bugg at the iTunes Festival. To think that I’m going to be doing it this year is so amazing.”

September 10: Pharrell Williams and Jungle—One of the industry’s biggest stars is hitting the Roundhouse stage on September 10 and we’re really “Happy” about it! Did you see what I did there? Yes, now is an appropriate time for you to laugh! We’ve seen Pharrell Williams almost everywhere recently but my guess is he’ll be bringing something new to the stage on the tenth of September!

September 11: Maroon 5—Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine just tied the knot but now he’s preparing to capture the hearts of iTunes Festival listeners all over the world. I can’t announce what the band will be performing but I can practically guarantee this is a performance you don’t want to miss!

September 16: Blondie and Chrissie Hynde—When asked about her appearance at the iTunes Festival, Blondie said, “We love playing London, we love playing the Roundhouse, and what’s not to love about the iTunes Festival? This venue is in our blood, we first played there in 1978 and it was a breakthrough we never looked back from. You can feel the history there and we are always proud to return and make some more.”

September 27: Kylie Minogue—Closing out the month, Australian singer-songwriter Kylie Minogue is taking the stage at Roundhouse! The 46-year-old Melbourne native said, “Playing London is always special and playing the Roundhouse is going to be amazing. It’s such an iconic and intimate venue—I can’t wait to put on a show for everyone” when asked about her spot on the lineup.

Not in London? Don’t worry! The concerts will be filmed and streamed online by Apple. Fans can watch on their computers, iPhones, iPads or via Apple TV. Rather than having to download a dedicate app (like previous years), the 2014 iTunes Festival will be streamed through the iTunes store in more than 100 countries. Fans in the UK, stay tuned for various ways to win free tickets! Are you excited? Send us a tweet at @weknowthedj and share your thoughts!
