Between managing extremely successful musicians, executive producing blockbusters plus your soon-to-be favorite television show and investing in today’s hottest up-and-coming companies, Scooter Braun is easily the busiest person in the entertainment industry. Sorry, Ryan Seacrest. If you check out the history books, it’s clear that Braun hasn’t slowed down since first finding his footing at the young age of 19 as an Atlanta-based party promoter. Fourteen years later, Scooter is still going strong as he continues to make an everlasting change on the entertainment world.
First and foremost: music. Like everyone else in the world, music had a huge impact on Scooter Braun’s childhood and teenage years. Unlike most other people, he thought of an idea and ran with it. We all know the stories of how Braun signed college rapper Asher Roth and that young kid from Canada with an iconic hair swoop but do you realize how much Scooter Braun has impacted the music world in the past seven years? Today, Braun and his team manage Amber Riley, Ariana Grande, Carly Rae Jepsen, Cody Simpson, Dan + Shay, Justin Bieber, Madison Beer, Martin Garrix, PSY, Rixton, Sheppard, The Wanted, Todrick Hall and Tori Kelly. Plain and simple, if there’s a song you’re obsessed with, chances are the artist is part of Scooter Braun’s team. With an ear for undeniable talent and a knack for social media that other teams simply can’t compete with, Scooter Braun is definitely a mastermind when it comes to success in the music world. There’s no question about it: artists signed with SB Management are in a league of their own.
Even though it’s no secret that Scooter and his team have taken over the airwaves, did you know he’s also taken over television screens and movie theaters? Believe it or not, Scooter’s video experience goes way beyond a few appearances in our WeKnowTheDJ YouTube series! In 2011, Scooter Braun Films created and produced the number one grossing concert film in US history and international hit film “Justin Bieber: Never Say Never.” But… That’s not all! Scooter also played a huge role in the follow up to “Never Say Never,” Justin Bieber’s “Believe” and the hit E! television show, “The Wanted Life”—and yes, his role was much bigger than giving Bieber and the lads a few pep talks! Just this month, Scooter’s first scripted executive produced blockbuster “The Giver” hit theaters and I’ve seen nothing but positive feedback. As someone who was “forced” to read the Lois Lowry novel in middle school, I re-read it before going to see the film and every expectation was met! Again… There’s more! Scooter and his team are currently working on a remake of “JEM: The Movie” and creating the first film to have a majority of the decisions made through social media! He’s also producing the upcoming CBS television show, “Scorpion,” starring Katherine McPhee and Elyes Gabel. I’m giving you all fair warning: it’s only a matter of time before Scooter Braun owns the film world!
So we’ve already concluded that 33-year-old Scooter Braun is a genius when it comes to music and film but it turns out he’s also one of the smartest business men of the 21st century. As a partner with Songza, Fahlo, Spotify, Uber and Stamped, Scooter Braun is everywhere! Want to listen to music on a free website while getting through a workday? You can thank Scooter for Songza and Spotify. Want to connect with your idol on a new level? Thankfully, there’s Stamped and Fahlo! Are you a world-class traveler in need of a ride? Just download one simple app, Uber, and you can get a driver at an affordable price in 44 countries. So because of this media mogul, you can go from listening to music on your computer or smartphone to riding around in a chauffeured car with your idol. The only thing that could be better was if someone could come fetch this pile of dirty laundry growing in my room. Wait… Scooter Braun has made that possible too! Now introducing: Washio, a service for those who hate doing laundry! It’s simple: you place your order, a “ninja armed with sustainable bags” comes to pick up your dry cleaning or laundry and then returns it the very next day. With these easy-to-follow steps, you’ll never have to sort your colors or worry about running out of dirty clothes! Scoot, on behalf of college students everywhere—thank you!
Scooter Braun lives a life most people could only dream of—but he’s also the once encouraging everyone to follow their dreams, no matter how crazy they might seem. If anything, Scooter is living proof that crazy is always possible! Do you want a taste of what it’s like to be Scooter Braun? Just scroll through his Instagram profile, you’ll find plenty of entertaining photos. In the past three months alone, he’s eaten a birthday cake with his face on it (because 33 is the new sexy), went to Disney World for Ariana Grande’s 21st birthday, went golfing for the first time on a beautiful course, FaceTimed with Bieber weekly, played with his brother’s adorable puppy, spent some time in the studio and dumped a bucket of ice water on his head for ALS. Oh and he got married to Yael Cohen, a beautiful girl with an even more beautiful heart. And that’s not even taking his business success into account! If anyone needs to be declared the winner of Summer 2014, I’m definitely giving that title to Scooter Braun!
Speaking of big hearts, Yael isn’t the only Braun trying to make a positive impact on the world. When it comes to projects and business ventures, Scooter Braun is one rule: there MUST be a charitable aspect. No charity, no deal. Teaming up with Make-A-Wish, Pencils of Promise, the American Civil Liberties Union and The Cure ATRT Fund, Scooter has no shortage of kindness. At the end of the day, success doesn’t matter, smiles do. I won’t be surprised when Scooter adds even more charities to his list of favorites, especially as he continues to focus on the positives in life.
Who will be Scooter Braun’s next artist? Can we expect more film-work or television series? Are kids next? Which of his artists will be the next to make impressive history? Stay tuned—I know we will be! Until then, send us a tweet at @weknowthedj and share your thoughts on Scooter Braun: media mogul mastermind!
