Episode Releases “Lost in Cali”

Earlier this year, we introduced you to an alternative rock band known as Episode. We promised we’d be back with more and today’s the day!

Today, right before lunch, a message appeared in my inbox from the New York-based band. Its content included a few links, a quote from front man Daniel Lonner and song that has been stuck in my head all day.

Before we get into the song, here’s a quick recap of the band’s members: Daniel Lonner focuses on vocals and production while Eric Sherman takes care of the guitar. Brett Daniels is banging away on the drums, in the best way possible, and Giovanni Thatcher’s instrument of choice appears to be the bass.

Okay, let’s talk music –

“Lost In Cali,” posted below, was created last year when the band took a trip to Los Angeles to work with producer Rex Kudo (Post Malone, Wale) on a bunch of music. The three-minute demo is accompanied by a summer that leaves me craving warmer weather as New York heads for sub-zero temps.

Although the weather on both coasts couldn’t be more different right now, it turns out there is a connection between the two of the country’s busiest cities, at least according to Lonner. He says, “LA is a beautiful city. At its highs, it feels surreal and distorted, but at its lows, it feels empty in the way New York feels whole.”

I smiled at that explanation because that’s exactly how the song resonated with me. It’s whole.

Stay tuned for more from Episode, their EP is coming soon and their schedule is about to get a lot crazier. And, if you’re a New Yorker like me, you can catch the band at their next headlining show, March 4th at Arlene’s Grocery in New York City.

Until then, listen to “Lost In Cali” below and let us know your thoughts!
